Top Gun: Maverick Breaking Theatre Records. It Will Become Tom Cruise's Most Successful Movie At His Age Of 59.

The film Top Gun: Maverick has made over 550 million dollars in over 10 days worldwide, informs server Collider. It is a huge success. In comparison, the comics movie Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness had worldwide revenue worth 688 million dollars after 10 days, but its revenue decreased twice faster than Top Gun's.

It is possible that Top Gun: Maverick will make more than Doctor Strange 2 worldwide, which is currently at 909 million dollars. In the USA and Canada, the movies are on the same level. 

In these countries, both had identical earnings of 291 million dollars after 10 days of screening. However, Top Gun: Maverick has only seen a 32% decrease in revenue while Doctor Strange has seen a 67% decrease. 

No other movie in history, which has earned over 100 million dollars during the premiere weekend in the USA and Canada has managed to have such a low decrease in earnings during the second weekend. Top Gun: Maverick therefore broke a record. In the case of big blockbusters, it is an unwritten rule that the biggest profit is made during the premiere weekend when most people are curious about the film (this is called a frontloaded effect).

Positive feedback of the audience, excited reviews and constant discussions about the quality of the film have persuaded many to visit a theatre, even those who did were not planning to see Top Gun: Maverick. Some have even seen the movie twice already. 

Top Gun: Maverick will most likely become the most profiting theatre film of the actor and producer Tom Cruise. It would even surpass the movie Mission: Impossible - Fallout which has made 791 million in theatres in 2018. It is worth noting that both are action films, whose main star will celebrate his 60th birthday this year. 

We shouldn't forget that the new Top Gun will not make it to Chinese or Russian cinemas where it could generate tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. Immensely positive feedback of audiences have caused the movie to make even more profit in the second weekend than in the first. 

We will see how the movie does next week. Theatres will start showing the third part of the Jurassic World series about dinosaurs which many will surely want to see. The Paramount Pictures studio and Tom Cruise have refused to premiere Top Gun 2 on streaming platforms and have instead waited for 2 years for theatres to fully open after the pandemic. Their patience and faith in the quality of their product have paid off.
