The most famous porn site Pornhub published its annual statistical summary in various categories. Among them are, for example, statistics on the most searched porn actresses, popular categories, demographic data, events of the year that influenced search trends, or an overview of the devices on which people watched adult films.

The well-known porn site has traditionally published a recap on its blog for the ninth year in a row. The statistics were again enriched with various infographics, rankings and graphs.

Interest in amateur porn decreased because it "improved in quality" too much

In 2022, people most searched for the so-called reality porn, i.e. adult videos capturing authentic sex. Traffic for this type of porn increased by 169% and became one of the top 20 categories. According to Pornhub, on the contrary, people's interest in amateur porn has decreased (by 19%) because it has become too "high quality".

Statisticians believe that more amateur porn actresses have turned to filming porn full-time, improving the quality of their videos, and this is not so exciting for people looking for real authentic homemade porn.

The term "real amateur homemade porn" grew by 179% worldwide and up to 310% in the US. In this category, people search for terms like "home swingers party" or "home threesome" the most. Transgender porn, group sex, or outdoor porn also made it to the list of the most searched terms.

Hentai rules the charts again

Like last year, the most searched term this year was hentai. In Japanese culture, this word can refer to any kind of sexual fetish. In the world, however, it most often describes the pornographic form of anime - a style of Japanese film and television animation.

Next to hentai is Japanese porn, and in third place is the term "MILF", referring to porn with mature women, mothers. Compared to last year, the term "lesbians" has thus overtaken. According to Pornhub, the term "pinay" for Filipino women is also in the top five. The terms "big ass", "threesome" and "latina" also became very popular.

Abella Danger dethroned Lana Rhoades after three years

Pornhub also published the most searched porn stars. While 26-year-old American Lana Rhoades uncompromisingly guarded the first place for the last three years, in 2022, 27-year-old American porn actress Abelle Danger managed to dethrone her. Her adult films have had a total of 1.6 billion views over the past year.

Lana has a total of almost 1.5 billion views in 2022. Angela White, Eva Elfie, Riley Reid, Emily Willis, Mia Khalifa, Mia Malkova follow in the ranking of the most watched porn actresses. The most sought-after porn actor was again the 28-year-old Spaniard Jordi El Niño Polla.

In addition to the ranking of professional porn actors, Pornhub also published the most popular amateur models on Pornhub. Rounding out the top 5 are Yinyleon, Angel, Sweetie Fox, DickForLily and Kelly Aleman.

As for the viewership of countries around the world, the United States once again takes the highest daily traffic. They are followed by the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Canada, the Philippines, Brazil, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Australia and Ukraine.

Egypt also made the ranking for the first time in history, and Belgium, which is in 20th place, made the list after five years. An interesting fact is that the most populous continent of Asia paradoxically has only two countries on the list - Japan and the Philippines. In total, these 20 countries account for 79.3% of Pornhub's daily traffic.

People want to see sex with Harley Quinn and Fortnite characters

Pop culture was also reflected in the rankings compiled by Pornhub. What is currently popular in world cinema or on the gaming scene, is also searched on Pornhub. A big role for visitors is played by their imagination. Movie and game fans want to see their favourite characters having sex.

Cosplay and porn parodies of movies are at the top of the search bar. Within the films, the most searched terms were Harley Quinn, Star Wars or Marvel characters such as Black Widow, Wonder Woman, Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. Players, on the other hand, mainly searched for porn related to games such as Fortnite, Overwatch, Genshin Impact, Minecraft, Pokemon and Cyberpunk.
