Time Out shares some inspiration, based on an analysis from Quotezone that looked into these criteria: safety, public transport costs and availability, the number of hostels and tours that allow you to meet new people and explore landmarks in the safety of a group, and internet speed and security for easy access to maps and translators.

Solo traveling has seen a big surge in recent years. More people are heading out on trips alone to explore the world at their own pace and step out of their comfort zones.

1. Madrid, Spain

The Spanish capital scores high for safety, landmarks on every corner, sprawling parks, world-famous museums, a vibrant nightlife, and excellent food. Plus, it boasts beautiful sunny weather. It's a paradise for all travelers, especially those going solo, according to the analysis of key criteria.

2. Prague, Czech Republic

Our capital city came in second overall on the list, as well as in safety scores. Tourists don’t need to worry about exploring it solo by day or by night.

Prague attracts with affordability, historical landmarks, picturesque streets, countless viewpoints from nearby hills, and a lively social scene according to the site. This makes it an ideal spot for solo travelers looking to balance sightseeing with socializing opportunities.

Where we surprisingly fell short is internet speed. Apparently, after Athens, ours is the second slowest among all 10 destinations by a lot. For comparison, Prague clocks in at 88.64 Mbps, while Paris hits 346.04 Mbps. We can't win at everything.

3. Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon stands out for its safety, variety of accommodation options, and tours, including city cruises and other organized activities. You won't be bored here, even if you come alone. Prices in this Portuguese city are also favorable compared to other destinations, making it ideal for a budget-friendly trip. If you like fish and seafood, you'll be in heaven here.

From the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe to the majestic Champs-Élysées, Paris offers a wide array of world-renowned sites. If you find you aren't enjoying it as much, don't worry—the internet speeds here are the best of all the destinations, so you'll stay entertained.

5. Reykjavík, Iceland

But be prepared; it's not going to be a cheap trip. Iceland ranks among the most expensive countries in Europe, reflected by the prices for public transport and lodging. You'll find only 10 hostels here.

One side highlights the majestic parliament, while on the other, you'll find the castle and famous Fisherman’s Bastion on the hill.
