The plot puts the main characters in a seriously tough spot. The wife is not only battling a severe cancer diagnosis, but the couple also gets stuck in a mysterious, half-empty hotel called the Grand Imperial after arriving in a small town. The place is inhabited by strange characters, from an eccentric aging singer to a mysterious healer. As the story unfolds, the couple not only struggles with the orphanage's bureaucracy but also gradually loses certainty in their marriage and reality itself.
