Netflix Prepares a Successor to The Crown: A Star-Studded Kennedy Series

MOVIES & SERIES

In October 2025, Netflix announced a new series titled "Kennedy," focusing not only on Joe Kennedy Sr., the father of President John F. Kennedy, but also on the entire famous dynasty. The streaming service has now revealed the main cast of the series.

Kennedy reveals the intimate lives, loves, rivalries, and tragedies that shaped the powerful Kennedy dynasty. As reported by The Playlist, the story kicks off in the 1930s, when Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine kids started climbing the social ladder in America and gaining public attention.

The series is based on Fredrik Logevall's novel JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956. “The story of the Kennedys is the closest thing to American mythology,” said executive producer Sam Shaw for Tudum.

Who's in the Cast?

Michael Fassbender, a two-time Oscar nominee, known from films like Inglorious Basterds and X-Men, will play the main role of Joe. His wife, Rose, will be played by Laura Donnelly. Nick Robinson will appear as Joe Kennedy Jr., and Joshuah Melnick will portray Jack Kennedy, the rebellious son trying to escape his perfect older brother's shadow.

Other newly announced cast members include Ben Miles as Eddie Moore, Lydia Peckham as Rosemary Kennedy, Saura Lightfoot-Leon as Kick Kennedy, Cole Doman as Lem Billings, and Imogen Poots as Gloria Swanson.

You'll be glad to know that the creators of The Crown are working on this series too! That show captured the most famous dynasty of the British kingdom. Whether the American version will enjoy similar success and nab prestigious TV awards is something we'll find out in time. Like in The Crown, expect the cast to change as the characters age throughout the story.
