Czechia Surpasses the Dolomites and China. Michelin Guide Ranks It as the World's Second-Best Destination

According to Michelin's list as highlighted by Seznam Zprávy, Michelin inspectors focused on places outside the capital deserving worldwide gastro attention. They're moving from Prague towards spa towns, countryside inns, and kitchens nestled in the picturesque Czech countryside.

The real gems are found beyond Prague

They were particularly impressed by the South Moravian region and the spa town of Karlovy Vary, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. They also recommend adding Southern and Central Bohemia to your travel itinerary. Their fascination was so strong that they placed the Czech Republic second among the world's top 16 gastro destinations.

“Right now, the country feels open yet quiet, with a newfound confidence—a perfect balance for exploration,” describes the Michelin guide about the Czech Republic. They suggest visiting soon before the rest of the world discovers it, prices rise, and getting a reservation at local restaurants becomes tougher.

“Potatoes, freshwater fish, and mushrooms are menu staples rooted in locality and seasonality,” Michelin describes Czech cuisine. “From late spring to early autumn, markets, bike trails, and riverside towns are at their best,” they add.

Altogether, the Czech Republic boasts 79 restaurants listed in the Michelin guide, including one with two stars, eight with one star, and 18 Bib Gourmands, indicating excellent value.

Michelin also mentions that the Czech Republic is dotted with dreamy places to stay, highlighting the castle hotel Julius and Emma in Karlovy Vary and the modern W hotel in Prague.
