Thinnest Smartphone Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Is Surprising With Its Affordability

Mi 11 Ultra isn't the only news from Xiaomi. They've expanded their offer with a light, thin and still solidly well-equipped model. Third update - the Pro version - is not planned for the European market, for now.

After the introduction of the extreme Mi 11 Ultra, the most affordable Mi 11 Lite (and Mi 11 Lite 5G) surfaced. Target group here is mainly young customers and those that put design as a priority, yet still find the properties equally important.

The main feature of Mi 11 Lite is its 6,8 mm thickness. That makes it the thinnest smartphone on the market in recent years. On top of that, weighing only 159 grams, it's also one of the lightest in its category. It's only a pity that the Lite version didn't also develop resistance towards water and dust.

The 6,55-inch display is Amoled type and it has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 (Gorilla Glass 5 in the 4G version).

It is officially the first mobile phone to be equipped with Snapdragon 780G chipset. Manufactured using 5 nm technology and, according to the first tests,  its performance measures up to last years flagship-level smartphones. 4G Mi 11 Lite version has the last years Snapdragon 731G.

The 5G version comes with either 6 or 8GB RAM to choose from and 128 GB internal memory. 4G version has only 6 GB RAM a 64 or 128 GB internal memory. The last difference, apart from the price, is the frontal camera. Cheaper 4G version has 16Mpix sensor, MI 11 Lite 5G 20Mpix.

The rear cameras are identical. Primary 64 Mpix sensor, wide angle 8 Mpix and telemacro with 5 Mpix resolution.

For a body only slightly thicker than 0,5 centimeter, a 4 250 mAh battery supported with 33 W quick-charging is definitely a pleasant surprise. Only through the cable though.

Mi 11 Lite 5G is available in dark grey, green and yellow color and it costs 385 EUR (6/128 GB) and 405 EUR (8/128 GB). Mi 11 Lite 4G is sold in black, blue and pink color for 288 EUR (6/64 GB) and 308 EUR (6/128 GB).

These can be considered direct competitors to the new Samsung Galaxy A52 and A72 that are also sold at a similar price level, around 300 – 400 EUR.

Without the Pro Version

Aside from Ultra and Lite version, model Mi 11 Pro, which could be the golden mean between the two, has also premiered. It is equipped with almost identical premium camera to Ultra, at a more affordable price. Unfortunately it will not be introduced to the European market. At least for now it won't.

To be more precise, Mi 11 Pro has exactly identical measures, but with "normal" 208-gram weight, since the cover is made of glass and not ceramic. The display is also the same, aside from one single difference - the maximum brightness can achieve "only" 1,500 nits. The last deviation is the cameras.

It also uses the brand new giant Samsung Isocell GN2 sensor with a 50 Mpix resolution, but without laser focus.

The second camera also has 5X optical zoom, but the resolution is 8 Mpix.  Ultra-wide angle camera has 13 Mpix. Of course, you will no longer find a secondary camera display, which is the main hallmark of the Ultra model.

All of the rest, such as Snapdragon 888 or the large battery with incredible charging speed, is identical.

Mi 11 Pro in the 8/128 GB version was sold in China for roughly 645 EUR, which would be about 950 EUR after including tax and other European market fees. With the 12/256 GB version we're climbing up to 738 EUR in China and approximately 1 080 EUR on our market, thus 150-300 EUR less than Mi 11 Ultra. What a pity.

The Mi 11 version is therefore available in Europe (starting from 770 EUR). Mi 11 Ultra (for about 1230 EUR) and Mi 11 Lite (starting from 288 EUR, 5G version around 385 EUR) should arrive at the end of April.
