Man Wins Lottery for the Third Time, Thanks to a Czech Hockey Player's Jersey Number

SPORT

That's what you call being born under a lucky star. A man from Canada has managed to win the lottery not once, but three times. And this time, his lucky win was thanks to the jersey number of his favorite Czech hockey player.

A guy named Marcel Leclaire from Sudbury, a former taxi driver, experienced something most people only dream about. He managed to win big prizes three times. His latest win brought him a generous cash reward.

Marcel had won twice before. This time, an Instant Lunar 8s ticket for 5 Canadian dollars, which is about 3.18 euros, did the trick. Being a die-hard hockey fan, he noticed the number 88, worn by his favorite player David Pastrňák, and that's why he chose this specific ticket, reports DH National.

Even more surprising was that after checking the ticket, it showed he won exactly 88,888 dollars, which is 56,605 euros. Marcel admitted he was totally shocked. He revealed that even though it was his third big win, the feeling was as strong as the first time. ““Even though it was my third big win, the feeling was just as intense as the first. I shared the news with my brother, and he was so happy for me,”” he described his feelings.

The lucky guy shared what he plans to do with such a big sum. Part of the new winnings will go into savings. The rest he plans to use for a new house and furnishing.

His first big win was back in 2017 when he won the Encore lottery prize worth one million dollars, approximately 636,820 euros. Last year, he managed to win up to three million Canadian dollars, i.e., 1.91 million euros. He said he bought that winning ticket just because he liked it—it was shiny and pretty.
