CELEBRITY

Britney Spears was detained in California on suspicion of driving under the influence. This incident follows the sale of her music catalog and the end of her 13-year conservatorship.

The incident happened in Ventura County around 9:28 PM local time when she was stopped by the California Highway Patrol, reports Variety.

The singer was handcuffed and then taken to the police station. According to available information, she was released around six in the morning.

Soon after, Spears deleted her Instagram profile. Her last post contained a mysterious message about "fragility" and a warning to be careful when dealing with the "queen of hearts."

She was detained just a few days after the singer won a court battle. The judge issued a restraining order against a 51-year-old man from Louisiana who had allegedly been harassing her since 2013. According to court documents, he even appeared at her home in Los Angeles.

This isn't the first time Britney Spears has had run-ins with the law. Back in 2007, she faced four charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident in Los Angeles. The charges were later dropped after she paid damages to the car owner.

At the end of 2025, the singer sold the rights to her music catalog to the publisher Primary Wave for about $200 million. The deal includes hits like ...Baby One More Time.
