A bunch of famous personalities have long claimed they had no contact with Jeffrey Epstein. A newly released set of documents suggests that's not entirely true.
Hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein after 2008, when he was first labeled a sex offender by the court, should be considered pretty undesirable in good company. But as newly released documents show, some famous folks stayed in touch with Epstein even long after serious accusations against him started piling up.
Who's not telling the truth?
Epstein, an American financier with ties not just in politics but also showbiz, reportedly committed suicide in 2019. Back then, the full truth about his criminal pedophile network and infamous island came to light, making it obvious no celebrity or politician wants to be associated with his name. But despite all denials, their names keep popping up in email conversations so frequently that maybe it's time for an explanation or apology.
- Bill Gates
Let's start with Bill Gates, who for years claimed he had nothing to do with Epstein and never visited his island. But we’ve recently learned that Gates supposedly had sexual relations with Russian girls provided by Epstein, who allegedly infected him with an STD. Gates supposedly kept this from his wife Melinda, who divorced him in 2021, largely speculated due to his past with Epstein. Lately, though, Gates has backtracked. While he still denies some things, like the STD, he has apologized for his ties to Epstein.
- Elon Musk
Musk has always held an innocent stance, acting unbothered by Epstein. He even claimed last year on his platform X that Epstein tried to invite him to the island, but he "REFUSED." Surprise, surprise, the newly released docs tell a different story. According to email exchanges, Musk was trying hard to get an invite to enjoy the company of Epstein's girls, showing an extreme eagerness. Yet, Epstein and his influential pals didn't want him there. When a pedophile club rejects you, something’s really wrong.
- Howard Lutnick
Next up is Howard Lutnick, the current Secretary of Commerce in Trump's administration. We’re skipping Trump himself because his name shows up so much in Epstein's files, it would take an entire article just for him. Interestingly, a lot of other people now in Trump's circle were in contact with Epstein too. Specifically, Lutnick mentioned in a podcast last year he visited Epstein's New York apartment in the early 2000s, and it disgusted him enough never to meet again. However, new info shows he was emailing Epstein in 2012, trying to score an invite for himself and his family to Epstein's private island around Christmas. Epstein later said he enjoyed seeing him. Lutnick claims he didn’t spend any time with him.
- Peter Thiel
Peter Thiel, one of the biggest Republican donors and a personal coach to Vice President J.D. Vance, also denies ties with Epstein. He even pushed for full transparency of all files related to the case. But as it turns out, Thiel’s investment firm received $40 million from Epstein, and they corresponded five years before Epstein’s death. Epstein also invited him to his island, but Thiel says he never went.
Who wasn’t involved or faced the issue head-on?
On the flip side, there are people who appear in Epstein's files by total accident. For example, J.K. Rowling, the controversial Harry Potter author, though not exactly today's role model due to her views on the trans community, really wasn’t involved with Epstein, even if the internet accused her for a short while. It turns out Epstein tried to snag a guest list spot for the Harry Potter and The Cursed Child play premiere. He was promised tickets, but when he showed up, no one knew him, and he was turned away. Poor guy.
Also, because of his ties with Epstein, former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary will testify before the U.S. Congress in a few days. Clinton knew Epstein, but claims to have cut ties two decades ago and says he was unaware of his criminal activities. Republicans called the Clintons primarily for the media circus and political points, to distract from Trump (whose name appears in Epstein's files more often than Harry Potter’s in all seven Rowling books) and the ICEstapp chaos in Minnesota.
However, Clinton requested cameras at the event, so everything that happens at his highly-anticipated hearing will be broadcast worldwide. Republicans might regret this move. But it still stands that anyone who knew about or was involved in Epstein's activities should be punished, no matter their position or influence.
