The decade-long wait might finally be over. Global icon Rihanna has sparked conversations about her ninth studio album by casually sharing moments from a late-night recording session on social media.
The singer and successful entrepreneur lit up social media with a video showcasing a typical "night in her life," featuring hours spent in the recording studio. This seemingly low-key clip instantly reignited the hopes of millions of fans that the much-anticipated album, tentatively titled R9, might actually be on the way.
It's been a mind-blowing ten years since her last studio album, Anti. But Rihanna hasn’t just been chilling during this musical break. Quite the opposite! Alongside her partner A$AP Rocky, she welcomed three kids, stood by him during a tough court case, built the Savage x Fenty fashion empire worth billions, and even nailed a prestigious Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

Getting back to music seemed to be quite a challenge for her. In a candid interview with Harper's Bazaar in 2025, she admitted that she spent a whole eight years in the studio since the last release, but it took a while to find the right musical direction.
"I went through phases of what I want to do... I know it won't be what anyone expects. It won't be commercial or easily digestible for radio," she said, adding that the new music will truly reflect where her art deserves to be right now.
But it seems like after years of creative searching, she finally found her vision. "I believe music is my freedom. I just came to this realization," she optimistically added in the interview. She confidently declared that she finally cracked the code for what she truly wants to turn into her next complete work.
Recent studio footage clearly suggests this long-promised musical revolution might soon become a reality.
