Thundercat Drops New Album After Six Years Featuring Mac Miller and A$AP Rocky. Coming Soon to Prague!

MUSIC

Thundercat, bassist and two-time Grammy winner (one of which he shares with rapper Kendrick Lamar), is releasing his fifth studio album, "Distracted," on April 3.

The cross-genre bassist Thundercat is working on the album with producer Greg Kurstin and other long-time collaborators like Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats, and Lemon Twigs. The visual identity of the album is created by renowned photographer Neil Krug. The list of guests is equally impressive, says Pitchfork.

Lil Yachty, Mac Miller, or Tame Impala

The main single, I Did This To Myself, features Lil Yachty. As Hypebeast explains, the single explores the awkwardness of modern socialization, focusing particularly on the unrequited search for a muse in the digital age.

An unexpected treat is the track She Knows Too Much, a collaboration with Thundercat’s late friend, rapper Mac Miller.

Other guests on the album Distracted include WILLOW, Channel Tres, Tame Impala, and A$AP Rocky.

An Album Inspired by Grief

Just like Thundercat's fourth album It Is What It Is from 2020, which he partially wrote about the sudden loss of Mac Miller, Distracted continues to delve into the theme of grief.

“I think that broken heart never stopped,” the server Pitchfork quotes the bassist. “If it's not a girl, it's taxes. If it's not taxes, it's World War III. If it's not World War III, it's the new phone update,” Thundercat explains.

Catch Him in March in Prague

On March 10th, Thundercat will perform at the Roxy club in Prague as part of his European tour. We'll see if he plays any new tracks from the upcoming album.
