This thief caught viral attention online with his stunt. Police later apprehended him.
In the Turkish city of Kayseri, one of the most bizarre heists went down. A guy chose a rather unusual getaway method: instead of a car or motorcycle, he went with a donkey. The incident, caught on video, went viral online and grabbed media attention not just in Turkey. The Guardian reported on it.
According to security camera footage, the police later identified the suspect as a 26-year-old man. He first used a forklift to break into a jewelry store, smashing through metal shutters and the display window to get inside.
Inside, the thief flipped a showcase, broke the glass, and scattered gold jewelry all over the floor. He then gathered the fallen gold into a bag.
But the strangest part of the whole incident was the getaway itself. The dude left the scene by hopping on a donkey, riding through the empty streets. Eventually, he wasn’t stopped by any police patrols.
After the incident, authorities started an investigation and are prepping formal charges against the guy. The gold he snagged was eventually found and secured by local police to be returned to the original owner.
