American actor Eric Dane, known for his roles in Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, recorded a final message for his two daughters shortly before his death.
Netflix shared a video titled “Eric Dane’s Final Message To His Daughters and The World” on their YouTube channel. The actor passed away on Thursday at the age of 53 due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“Billie and Georgie, these words are for you. I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Still, we had a blast, didn’t we?” the actor said in his message.
“Live in the Now”
Then he shared some life advice with his daughters. “First, live now, right now, in the present. It’s hard, but I learned how,” he said. “For years, I was mentally lost, wandering in my thoughts for long hours, drowning in worries, self-pity, shame, and doubt. I constantly revisited my decisions and questioned myself: ‘I shouldn't have done that. I never should have done that.’”
“Second, fall in love. It doesn’t necessarily have to be with a person, though I recommend that too. But fall in love with something,” Dane said. “Find your passion, your joy. Find what makes you get out of bed in the morning.” He added that he personally fell in love with acting when he was around his daughters’ age.
“Third, choose your friends wisely. Find your people and let them find you, then open up to them. The best ones will reciprocate. No judgment, no conditions, no questions,” the actor states.
“You mean everything to me. Goodnight. I love you. Those are my final words,” Dane concluded the video.
