VIDEO: Stranger Things is Coming Back Sooner Than You Thought. First Trailer Reveals New Cast

MOVIES & SERIES

Just a month after the main saga ended, Netflix dropped a trailer for a project that takes us back in time. The series Tales From ’85 is set in the winter of 1985, between the events of the second and third seasons.

One of the biggest questions the creators had to solve was how to bring monsters into the story when the passage to the Upside Down is closed.

The result is a threat with a plant-based origin. In the trailer, we can glimpse bizarre and terrifying entities that fans have already named “flower snakes” or “demi-pumpkins.” It's a fresh twist on the series' mythology, moving away from apocalyptic scales.

Casting Controversy: Why Don't We Hear the Original Stars?

Probably the most talked-about aspect of Tales From ’85 is the voice casting. Although the entire gang from Hawkins is back, we won’t hear Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, or Gaten Matarazzo.

The reason might be simple. The original actors are now adults with voices that don't match twelve-year-old kids. Plus, after years spent on one project, they want to explore new roles. Netflix has opted for fresh talent. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt will take on the role of Eleven,
Luca Diaz will be Mike, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport (known from In Your Dreams) will play Max.

The show premieres on April 23 and promises an epic '80s ride. It seems like Stranger Things is evolving into a vast universe where animation will play a key role in maintaining the brand.
