MOVIES & SERIES

Twenty years after the iconic film The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are back in the world of high fashion and office drama. The sequel hits theaters on May 1.

20th Century Studios just dropped a new trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, giving us a deeper look into the upcoming sequel.

The plot of The Devil Wears Prada 2 focuses on Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. She’s tackling the decline of print media and trying to find her place in an industry that’s slowly fading away.

Miranda faces off against Emily Blunt’s character, her former assistant, who’s now a powerful manager of a luxury conglomerate with the advertising budgets Miranda desperately needs.

Returning from the iconic 2006 film are Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman. Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Brammall are stepping in as the love interests of the main characters. Joining the cast are Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Justin Theroux, Lady Gaga, and Pauline Chalamet, according to Variety.

The film also features Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora, along with comedian Caleb Hearon. Adrian Grenier, who played Andrea’s boyfriend Nate in the original film, won’t be returning for the sequel.

David Frankel is back in the director’s chair with Aline Brosh McKenna writing the script, just like the original. Wendy Finerman is still on board as producer, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna as executive producers.
