Reigning champion of the F1 Max Verstappen of the Austrian Red Bull has won in the Sunday Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy and has thus received full points. He currently holds 2nd place in the overall scoreboard, down by 27 points from Charles Leclerc of Ferrari. He did not hide his satisfaction in an interview for Sky Sports.
"We needed to learn from our problems with reliability. I consider this race good, we did not have problems. I may add that I am very satisfied with the result," said the Dutchman, who currently holds 59 points in the preliminary table and has added a second win this season to his account on Sunday.
He did not resist commenting on his last year's rival's performance, the Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. During an interview, he was asked about his opinion on the fact that he has managed to defeat him on the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Italy by one whole lap.
"They have been slow since the beginning and practically for the whole season, so I don't consider that as something to be happy about. It simply happens." said the Dutchman. Hamilton is not doing well this season, he started from the 14th place after qualifications, in which he has also finished on Sunday.
He is therefore significantly behind on the scoreboard, where he currently holds 7th place with 28 points. He is 58 points behind the leader Leclerc. Verstappen's advisor from Red Bull, Helmut Marko has opined for Sky Sports that Hamilton should consider retiring.
