In an interview with Variety, he admitted that criticism focusing mainly on his appearance gives him anxiety and affects his willingness to be in public. The actor mentioned that negative comments on social media are often personal and hurtful.
“There’s a lot of hate... a lot of attacks on how I look,” he said, adding that it makes him want to retreat into the background. According to him, he's getting to a point where he doesn’t want to go out, highlighting the growing pressure he's facing.
Keoghan also admitted that even though he tries to avoid social media, he can't completely cut himself off from it. Curiosity leads him to read comments, which often worsen his mental state.
