The Formula 1 schedule has taken an unexpected turn.
The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix races won't take place in April. Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, the races (Grands Prix), along with F2, F3, and F1 Academy events, are off the calendar as originally planned. Formula 1 shared the news on Instagram.
The organizers considered alternative solutions but ultimately decided not to seek replacements for these events in April.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said it was a tough call. “Even though it was a tough decision, given the current situation in the Middle East, it's the right move for now,” he explained.
He also thanked the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the race organizers. “I want to take this opportunity to thank the FIA and our amazing promoters for their support and full understanding. They were looking forward to welcoming us with their typical energy and passion,” added Domenicali.
According to him, Formula 1 will return to these countries as soon as circumstances allow.
