The actor revealed that while working on the new sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, his two daughters lent a hand. During filming, they even recorded alien dialogues to make his reactions feel more natural.

While filming the new movie Project Hail Mary (in Slovak Posledná šanca), actor Ryan Gosling didn’t just rely on the film crew. He brought in his two daughters to help with scenes involving an alien character named Rocky, reports Unilad.

The actor revealed that during shooting, he had an earpiece, and his two daughters, eleven-year-old Esmeralda and nine-year-old Amada, would sometimes read lines for the alien Rocky. “Sometimes when I was working and needed to make changes, my kids would come over, and I had an earpiece, and they spoke for Rocky, so I could talk with them as Rocky,” the actor shared.

According to Ryan, this allowed him to react more naturally, as if he was really talking to a scene partner. While the final voice of the alien belongs to actor James Ortiz, some reactions in the movie were thanks to his daughters, reports People.

The actor also mentioned that his daughters often gave feedback on movie scenes because they saw multiple versions. His daughter once commented during costume testing that he looked smarter with glasses, which made it into the film. “When I was trying on clothes for the character, and my daughter came in, she said, ‘You look smart with glasses.’” The actor replied to her, “I need to look smart, so thank you.”

In the sci-fi flick, Gosling plays a science teacher who ventures into space to help save Earth. The film is based on a novel by Andy Weir, the author of The Martian. Hitting theaters on March 19.
