MOVIES & SERIES

Warner Bros. studio is working on a Game of Thrones movie about Aegon I Targaryen, but its future is uncertain due to a planned merger with Paramount.

Warner Bros studio is gearing up to make a movie set in the Game of Thrones universe, as reported by Variety. According to Page Six, he's already submitted the first script draft, but no director or cast has been announced yet.

However, the future of the movie is uncertain as Warner Bros is in the middle of being sold to Paramount Skydance. If regulatory authorities approve the merger, the new management might cancel some projects in progress. Even so, it's one of the studio's most valuable franchises, and Paramount's CEO, David Ellison, has already expressed ambitions to release up to 30 films per year once the companies merge.

The movie's story is expected to focus on Aegon I Targaryen and his conquest of the continent of Westeros, set centuries before the original series events. This character hasn't appeared on screen yet. The Targaryen family, which includes Daenerys Targaryen, portrayed by Emilia Clarke, is central to the successful spin-offs House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The original series was based on the book saga by author George R. R. Martin and won numerous awards, including Emmys, over its eight seasons.
