Game of Thrones is Getting a Movie! The Story Might Be About a Key Character Who Never Appeared on Screen

MOVIES & SERIES

Winter is coming. To the big screens. The hugely successful series Game of Thrones is set to get a movie adaptation.

The series created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, spanning eight seasons, aired from 2011 to 2019 and on the film database ČSFD, it has a rating of 91 percent, making it one of the highest-rated series of all time.

Will the movie affect the company’s sales?

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is currently starting to work on a movie version, with Beau Willimon, the showrunner of House of Cards and screenwriter of Andor, participating.

So far, no director or cast has been decided according to available information. The plot is also unconfirmed, but rumors hint at the story of Aegon I, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty, and his conquest of Westeros several centuries before the original TV series.

Aegon I himself never appeared on screen, but the royal family led by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) was the basis for two successful HBO spin-offs, House of the Dragon and The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

However, Variety noted that it's not entirely certain the film will actually be made, as Warner Bros. is currently in the process of selling to Paramount Skydance. Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison mentioned that "once the two media giants merge, they will release 30 films," which sounds hopeful for fans.

Game of Thrones is based on the fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin, and the series has won a total of 59 Emmy Awards.
