Following the men's team's victory over Canada, the President called the players directly in the locker room. Trump congratulated the team and expressed pride. During the call, he also offered them a visit to the White House, including transportation via military aircraft.
During the conversation, Trump mentioned the women's team, which also clinched gold after a 2:1 win against Canada in overtime.
"I have to tell you, we'll have to invite the women's team too, you know?" said the President, causing laughter among the players in the locker room. He then added: "I think if we didn’t, they’d probably impeach me.”
