A sad wave has hit the film and TV world. Actor Eric Dane, known from shows like Euphoria, Grey's Anatomy, and the movie Bad Boys: For Life, has passed away after battling a serious illness.
"With heavy hearts, we announce that Eric Dane passed away Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by close friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his universe," said the actor's family in a statement shared by People.
"During his journey with ALS, Eric became an advocate for awareness and research of the disease, determined to help others facing the same fight. We will miss him deeply and remember him with love forever. Eric loved his fans and appreciated the outpouring of love and support he received," the family added.
Dealing with ALS
The actor revealed his ALS diagnosis in April last year. Given the nature of the disease and the fact that it's incurable, it was clear that his journey wouldn't be easy. Still, he spoke openly about the disease, with calmness and determination, and without any hint of giving up. He even played a role in the series Brilliant Minds, portraying a character with the disease.
As his condition worsened, the news grew increasingly sad. In July, he announced he had lost control of his right hand. By fall, he was photographed in a wheelchair.
