In the historical drama Porto Rico, he'll act alongside movie stars like Edward Norton, Javier Bardem, and Viggo Mortensen.
Bad Bunny has been dropping literal bombs lately. Not only did he score big at the Grammy Awards, but this year he also performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, launched his own sneaker line, and most recently, hit another milestone—his first lead role in a historical drama called "Porto Rico."
The exact plot of the movie is still under wraps, but the project is helmed by Puerto Rican rapper Residente, marking his directorial debut. As reported by Variety, it’s described as an “epic Caribbean western” and a “compelling story inspired by true events” touching on the history and identity of Puerto Rico.
Some big names in the film industry are also on board for this project. Residente co-wrote the script with Alexander Dinelaris, an Oscar winner for Birdman, who also worked on The Revenant. Esteemed director Alejandro González Iñárritu, the creative force behind these acclaimed titles, joins as an executive producer.
Apart from Bad Bunny, the film will also feature Edward Norton, Javier Bardem, and Viggo Mortensen. The project is still in its early stages, and the release date or completion of filming hasn’t been officially announced yet.
