All the latest news, trailers, and release dates of upcoming games in one place.
The latest Sony State of Play presentation on Thursday was packed with new trailers, reveals, and surprises. It ran for a full hour, bringing plenty of news about upcoming games for PlayStation 5 and more. We’ve summed up the most crucial bits for you below.
God of War Everywhere You Look
First up, a big Greek comeback. The original voice actor for Kratos from the God of War series, TC Carson, announced during the event that a remake of the entire Spartan trilogy is in the works. The project is apparently in the early stages, so we’ll need to wait a bit, but it's awesome news for fans of the first games.
But that’s not all. You can play the new title, God of War: Sons of Sparta, right now. This 2D action platformer is a story prequel mixing intense and brutal action with modern genre mechanics, and the trailer suggests it’s absolutely worth it.
Multiplayer Ghost of Yotei, Kena Sequel, and More Silent Hill
The State of Play also revealed a multiplayer DLC for the stunning Ghost of Yotei. The title, like Ghost of Tsushima, is simply called Legends and will be free for all game owners. It drops in April.
Developers from Ember Lab also gave us a peek at the sequel to their hit Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The new game, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, will offer a bigger world, deeper lore, and more complex action. It’s arriving this year.
A new game from the Silent Hill universe, subtitled Townfall, was also announced. This thrilling first-person horror experience from Annapurna Interactive is set to release this year too.
Ambitious Newcomers
Another trio of games showcases original creative visions that don’t stem from any existing brand or series. Project Windless is a hack-and-slash game in the style of God of War with a massive number of enemies, led by a jacked... rooster?
The game 4:Loop is a co-op shooter reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, developed by Bad Robot’s gaming division. Plus, we got another trailer for the sci-fi game Pragmata, which just keeps looking better and better. Check it out:
From Star Wars to John Wick
And finally, here are some titles sure to excite fans of movie franchises. In Star Wars: Galactic Racer, we’ll race through a galaxy far, far away.
The upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, from the creators of the Hitman games, is aiming to be the best Bond game out there, and we’re totally here for it.
As if that weren’t enough action, the first game from the John Wick universe was also announced. Keanu Reeves is back, the story is officially part of the movie canon, and we can’t wait to creatively take someone out with a pencil.
