Legendary Game Diablo II Gets Major Expansion After 25 Years. Reign of the Warlock Brings a New Class and Familiar Voice

The legendary action RPG Diablo II has received its first major content expansion approximately 25 years after its original release.

Blizzard Entertainment announced that Diablo II: Resurrected is getting a new upgrade called Reign of the Warlock. It's the first major content addition to the series' second installment in over two decades since its original release in 2000. The expansion is available on Battle.net, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

The main highlight is a new playable class, Warlock, voiced by actor Rahul Kohli, known from shows like The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and iZombie. Variety describes the character as a disciplined and dark master of forbidden secrets, who has spent years in the shadows studying powers beyond the reach of ordinary mortals.

Interestingly, the Warlock won't be exclusive to Diablo II: Resurrected. The same class will appear in upcoming updates for other series titles, such as Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred and the mobile game Diablo Immortal, where a themed update is expected this summer.

The announcement is part of Blizzard's broader plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Diablo brand, with more details to come at the BlizzCon event in September. For fans of the classic game, it's an exceptional moment. The iconic game that defined the action RPG genre is gaining new content a quarter-century later, now in a modern remastered form.
