American skier Lindsey Vonn commented on her fall during the downhill event at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
American skier Lindsey Vonn opened up about her serious crash in the downhill event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Lindsey suffered a tibia fracture.
"The injury is stable for now, but I'll need several surgeries for a full recovery. Even though yesterday didn't end as I'd hoped and brought a lot of physical pain, I have no regrets. Standing at the starting gate was an indescribable feeling I'll never forget. Knowing I had a chance to win was a victory in itself," writes the skier.
We dream. We love. We jump. And sometimes we fall. Sometimes we get our hearts broken. Sometimes we don't achieve the dreams we know we could have. But that's the beauty of life: we get to try. I tried. I dreamed. I jumped. I hope if you take anything from my journey, it's the courage to take bold risks. Life's too short not to take risks. Because the only failure in life is not trying at all, Lindsey wrote.
The athlete also revealed that she understands racing is a risk and knows it's a dangerous sport. Lindsey fell a few seconds into her run, and after the accident, she was airlifted to a hospital in Cortina d’Ampezzo. She was then transferred to Treviso, where she’s recovering in the intensive care unit, writes Športnet.
