Two degrees in the morning, fifteen in the afternoon. Spring is here, bringing the endless challenge of dressing right. We've found the trendiest transitional jackets so you won't have to choose between a big winter coat and a denim jacket in the morning.
Coats with Stand-Up Collars
Jackets with high stand-up collars, or funnel neck jackets, were the biggest trend this fall and the style remains popular into spring. You’ll find lighter trench coats or leather jackets with high collars that can be buttoned right up to the chin to keep the wind out. Trench coat buttoned to the top!
Capes and Ponchos
Spring will showcase rich textures and unconventional silhouettes. Last summer, dupattas (or as TikTok called them, “Scandinavian scarves”) were trending, and this winter, the first ponchos appeared on Scandi TikTok. This year, they’ll be seen in elegant versions. Flowing silhouettes will also appear as temperatures warm up, replacing classic jackets with tops inspired by scarves and shawls.
Tang Jackets
Asian fashion and beauty are influencing Western trends more and more, and this spring is no exception. Adidas made waves by releasing a special collection to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which this year fell on February 17. Their suede jackets synthesize the classic Adidas striped hoodie with the traditional Chinese Tangzhuang, which originated during the late Qing dynasty and is now a main garment worn by men in China on special occasions. Besides Adidas, Amsterdam brand Róhe has also drawn inspiration from it.
Trench Coat with a Twist
Classic trench coats are such a staple piece that it's almost pointless to mention they're in fashion again this year. This time, however, trench coats with interesting details caught our eye—you’ll see the stand-up collar or models that balance between a classic cut and a fresh “scarf coat”. The emphasis is on quality and timelessness. Investing in quality pieces is definitely worth it when it comes to trench coats.
Military Jacket
Everything that was popular in 2016 is making a comeback this year, and the military jacket, or as it’s sometimes called, the Napoleon jacket, is no exception. This piece ruled the runways at fashion shows worldwide, featured in collections by designers like Alexander McQueen. It goes hand in hand with the return of Isabel Marant's rock chic and adds an edgy vibe to your outfit, while still being a very wearable trend.
Cargo Jackets
Windbreakers are riding the unstoppable trend of gorpcore and hike fashion. Once unloved jackets that our moms made us wear on trips are becoming a fashion statement. They are practical for spring weather, have plenty of pockets, and are finally stylish.
