Following Netflix and Disney+, another platform plans to limit account sharing.
Sharing accounts outside a single household is about to be limited by HBO Max too, according to the website FlatpanelsHD. Following the lead of Netflix and Disney+, the streaming service will globally restrict the use of one account, and these limitations are already in place in the US.
A household will be determined by the main TV, and mobile devices will need to stream content on the home network once a month. Users who want to share their account with someone outside their household will have the option to purchase a paid “extra member” with their own account and profile. In the US version, this comes with an additional charge of about 7 euros per month. The exact date when this feature will be available in our region is still unknown.
