Unexpected Donation: Teens Accidentally Gave Bag with Weed and Cash to Charity

OTHER

Two teenagers from New Zealand accidentally donated a bag containing 43.2 grams of marijuana and cash to a charity shop. Realizing their mistake, they rushed back in a panic to retrieve the bag.

Two teenagers left a bag by the donation box at a charity shop while waiting for their car to be serviced. One of the volunteers working at the shop noticed a strong smell and was surprised when they opened the bag.

Inside, they found plastic bags with 43.2 grams of marijuana and cash worth 3,700 NZD (about 2,000 EUR). The police reminded that recreational use and sale of marijuana are illegal in New Zealand, although limited medical use is allowed.

The incident happened in the Southland region on the South Island. The police didn’t release the exact shop location to protect the staff. The teens, a boy and a girl, went back to look for the missing bag but were detained when the police arrived.

During a search of the car, police found not only marijuana but also an air pistol, a police scanner, and more cash. Owning a police scanner isn’t illegal, but using it for criminal activity is banned, as reported by the New York Post.

The police didn’t disclose details about the charges the teens faced or whether they appeared in court. This incident shows how simple mistakes can lead to serious consequences and highlights the strict laws regarding marijuana and weapons.
