From Lajfr to Joji, all the way to Gorillaz: Check Out These Fresh Tracks You Can't Miss

MUSIC

Looking for the soundtrack of the hottest movie of the year, some Slovak post-punk, or maybe some fresh American rap? We've got a list of albums that dropped in the last few weeks that you absolutely need to hear.

Gorillaz – The Mountain

The virtual gang of outcasts is back, and even after more than 25 years on the scene, they've still got something to say. Damon Albarn drew inspiration from travels in India and China this time, influencing the sound and vibe of one of their most personal albums. It's typically diverse, playful, and full of unexpected moments. Guests include IDLES and the late Tony Allen and Mark E. Smith. The Mountain is one of this year's most delightful musical surprises. You can even catch it live, as Gorillaz are headlining this year's Rock for People festival.

Recommended Tracks:
  • Orange County (feat. Bizarrap, Kara Jackson, Anoushka Shankar)
  • The God of Lying (feat. IDLES)
  • Casablanca (feat. Paul Simonon and Johnny Marr)

Meowlau – KVETY

Slovak artist Laura Jašková made a name for herself as a bassist for Billy Barman. Now, she's picked up the guitar, drastically changed her image, and released her solo debut KVETY. It has elements of post-punk and raw indie pop, with a guest appearance by Edúv Syn. The Slovak underground is thriving!

Recommended Tracks:
  • I Don’t Have an Elevator and I Don’t Even Have You
  • Trouble (feat. Edúv Syn)
  • Soul in the Trash

Joji – Piss in the Wind

It's hard to believe that this sensitive art-pop is made by the same person who once shocked YouTube as FilthyFrank and kickstarted the viral Harlem Shake wave. Under the name Joji, he’s now one of the world’s most-listened-to artists. His new album Piss in the Wind captures the fleeting, ironic, and absurd nature of being. Atmospheric, fragile, and surprisingly intimate, the album is accompanied by strong visuals. Don't be discouraged by some negative reviews; it's a particularly pleasant heartbreak.

Recommended Tracks:
  • Last of a Dying Breed
  • LOVE YOU LESS
  • Dior

Lajfr – First Week in Fast Boys

Musician, actor, and king of fun Radek Lajfr has released a new EP. He swapped the Butterclub collective for the popular Fast Boys label, so it's no surprise that guests include SIMILIVINLIFE, Kojo, Cédric, or juli koli. It's a win-win for both sides – the label gets an unexpected boost and Lajfr shines brighter than ever. Party, irony, heaps of energy.

Recommended Tracks:
  • FRIENDS (feat. SIMILIVINLIFE)
  • K.O.
  • SPILL THE TEA (feat. juli koli)

Charli XCX – Wuthering Heights

Soundtrack of the year? After the massive success of the album and movement brat, Charli XCX comes with an artsy record full of strings, stormy synths, emotions, and crescendos. Instead of pop stars, she invited the 83-year-old John Cale, co-founder of Velvet Underground. The blockbuster Wuthering Heights is one of the top-grossing films of 2026. Even if you haven’t seen it yet, its soundtrack will get to you.

Recommended Tracks:
  • Always Everywhere
  • House (feat. John Cale)
  • Chains of Love

pastavbacku – QUATTRO STAGIONI

Remember how GUFRAU and Victor Kal blew up last year? I bet something similar is in store for the duo pastavbacku this year. Madman and Villain cooked up an EP with five great ingredients. The result is a rap pizza you'll love if you're into BUKA. You'll want seconds; this is going to be big.

Recommended Tracks:
  • Tomatoes and Basil
  • Mushrooms
  • Prosciutto

Baby Keem – Ca$ino

Great rap records dropped in February, like those from Buddah Bless, xaviersobased, or J. Cole. But the spotlight really belongs to Baby Keem, who confirms he's among the most interesting rap voices today. The 25-year-old cousin of Kendrick Lamar delivers an introspective and relatable album with precise flow, clean sound, and a strong vibe. No surprise Kendrick features on it, but Keem stays at the forefront the whole time.

Recommended Tracks:
  • I am not a Lyricist
  • Good Flirts (feat. Kendrick Lamar & Momo Boyd)
  • Dramatic Girl (feat. Che Ecru)

hemlocke springs – The Apple Tree Under the Sea

American musician hemlocke springs has released her long-awaited debut album. It's a phosphorescent pink-blue opera—extremely colorful, playful, and surprising both sonically and visually. If you love Charli XCX or early Grimes, this album offers a world that's strange, delicate, and addictively beautiful.

Recommended Tracks:
  • moses
  • be the girl!
  • head, shoulders, knees and ankles
