VIDEO: Scary Movie 6 Drops Official Trailer! Beloved Characters and Serious Bizarreness Return

MOVIES & SERIES

Paramount Pictures has just released the trailer for the latest installment of the "Scary Movie" series.

"Scary Movie 6" is bringing the Wayans brothers back together after 18 years! Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are teaming up to write the script for this new installment of the horror parody series. This is the first movie since "Scary Movie 5" back in 2013. The brothers are also producing the film alongside Rick Alvarez, with Michael Tiddes directing.

The trailer takes aim at several popular horror films from recent years, including titles like "Sinners," "Weapons," "The Substance," and Netflix's "Wednesday" series.

The intro parodies a metro scene with Ghostface from "Scream 6," featuring a bunch of costumed characters—also including the dancing robot killer "Megan." Marlon and Shawn Wayans are back on screen with Regina Hall and Anna Faris. They'll be spoofing Ghostface and films like "Get Out," "Smile," "Terrifier," "Longlegs," and more.

Returning from the original cast are Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, Jon Abrahams, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott. New faces include the Wayans' nephew Damon Wayans Jr., their sister Kim Wayans, former SNL cast member Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke.

The first "Scary Movie" from 2000 became one of the most commercially successful R-rated horrors ever. It grossed $42.5 million during its opening weekend, setting records at the time for an R-rated horror and for a film directed by a Black director. The "Scary Movie" series was created by the Wayans brothers, with Keenen writing and directing the first two movies. Marlon and Shawn contributed to the scripts and acted in the first two films.

Miramax is producing the film, with Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thom Zadra as executive producers. Under a first-look deal with Miramax, Paramount Pictures will release the film worldwide on June 12.
