Apple has just dropped the iPhone 17e – a more budget-friendly model in the iPhone 17 lineup featuring the A19 chip, a 48 MP camera, a tougher design with Ceramic Shield 2, MagSafe support, and a base storage of 256 GB.

At the heart of the device is the new A19 chip built with 3-nanometer tech. It offers a 6-core CPU (up to 2× faster than the iPhone 11), a 4-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for large generative Apple Intelligence models. The new C1X modem is up to twice as fast as the C1 in the iPhone 16e, while being 30% more energy-efficient than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro, contributing to all-day battery life.
Sleek Design and Greater Durability
The iPhone 17e sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with peak HDR brightness up to 1,200 nits, ensuring great readability even in direct sunlight. Protection comes from Ceramic Shield 2 with 3x the scratch resistance and better glare reduction.
The aircraft-grade aluminum body meets IP68 standards (water and dust resistance up to 6 meters for 30 minutes). It also features Face ID for secure unlocking and an action button for quick access to favorite functions. Available in black, white, and a new soft pink with a matte finish.
Advanced Camera and 4K Video
The 48 MP Fusion camera with 2× optical zoom quality acts like two lenses in one. It allows you to shoot in full 48 MP resolution or the default 24 MP mode, offering an ideal balance of quality and file size.
Next-gen portraits let you change focus even after capturing. The phone automatically recognizes people, dogs, and cats and saves depth information. Enhanced HDR ensures true skin tones and detailed highlights and shadows. A night mode is available for low-light conditions.
You can shoot videos in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision up to 60 fps. Recordings support spatial audio and the Audio Mix feature for adjusting voice and ambient sound. Machine learning algorithms automatically suppress wind noise.
Battery Life and Charging
Thanks to the efficient A19 chip, C1X modem, and iOS 26 optimizations, the iPhone 17e offers all-day battery life for regular use. Charging via USB-C reaches about 50% capacity in 30 minutes (with a 20 W or more powerful adapter).
The device supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging with up to 15 W (compared to 7.5 W on the older model). There's a wide range of accessories—chargers, stands, wallets, or cases.
Satellite and Safety Features
Even outside mobile network or Wi-Fi coverage, users can communicate via messages, call for help using SOS, or use assistive services through satellite. The feature also allows location sharing in the Find My app.
Crash detection recognizes serious collisions and automatically contacts emergency services if the user doesn’t respond. Satellite services are free for 2 years from device activation (iPhone 14 and newer).
iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 17e comes with iOS 26 and the new Liquid Glass design. Apple Intelligence offers instant translation in messages, calls, and through AirPods, on-screen visual intelligence, call screening from unknown numbers, and assisted hold on the line.

Sustainability and Environment
As part of the Apple 2030 initiative, the company is moving towards carbon neutrality. The iPhone 17e includes 30% recycled materials, including 85% recycled aluminum in its body and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery. The production chain uses 55% energy from renewable sources, and the packaging is 100% fiber-based and recyclable.
Price and Availability
The iPhone 17e will be available in 256 GB and 512 GB capacities. The base price for the 256 GB model is €729, and the higher 512 GB capacity will cost you €979.
Pre-orders start on March 4, and sales begin on March 11 in over 70 countries worldwide. Silicone and clear cases with MagSafe will also be available.
