The creators behind the controversial horror "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey" are bringing another twisted take on a children's classic.
The legendary tale of Pinocchio is back, but its new version Pinocchio: Unstrung will probably surprise you quite a bit. This upcoming horror project from Jagged Edge Productions offers a dark adaptation of the well-known story and views the iconic wooden puppet as a disturbing tale of growing up and the desire to become a "real" being.
“We created Pinocchio to feel as real as possible,” said director Rhys Frake-Waterfield. According to Variety, it's a twisted coming-of-age story told from the perspective of the puppet struggling for autonomy while being manipulated by dark and sinister forces.
The film is directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and produced by Scott Jeffrey, the duo also behind the controversial title Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. This suggests that viewers can expect a much more brutal and significantly darker version of the familiar story than they’re used to.
In the same horror universe are titles like Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare. No premiere date or further details about the film have been released yet, but it’s certain that this brutal horror will be out later this year.
