A decade-long wait might be nearing its end. Global icon Rihanna has stirred up excitement about her ninth studio album by casually sharing snippets from a late-night recording session on social media.
The singer and successful entrepreneur dropped a video on Thursday, February 26, showing a typical "night in her life", highlighting the early morning hours spent right in the recording studio. This seemingly low-key clip immediately sparked hopes among millions of fans that the mythical album, tentatively titled R9, might actually be on the way.
It’s been an unbelievable ten years since her last studio album Anti was released. But Rihanna certainly hasn't been idle during this musical break—quite the opposite. Alongside her partner A$AP Rocky, they welcomed three kids, she stood by him as support during a tough court case, built the fashion empire Savage x Fenty valued at a stunning billion dollars, and even managed a high-profile performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Getting back into music has been quite the challenge for her, it seems. In a candid interview with Harper's Bazaar in 2025, she admitted to spending a whopping eight years in the studio since her last release, struggling to find the right musical direction for a long time.
"I’ve gone through phases of figuring out what I want to do... I know it won’t be anything people expect. And it won’t be commercial or radio-friendly," she stated, pointing out that the new music will reflect exactly where her art deserves to be right now.
But it seems she’s finally found her vision after years of creative searching. "I think music is my freedom. I’ve just come to this realization,” she added optimistically in the interview. She confidently declared she’s finally cracked the code for what she truly wants to fuse into her next complete project.
The latest clips from the studio clearly suggest that the long-promised musical revolution might become a reality soon.
