Bad Bunny or Cate Blanchett Might Wear It. Now ABODI Introduces Handbags with Czech Brand Vuch

FASHION

Remember Jaden Smith's iconic Grammy moment with the Vampire Castle headpiece on the red carpet?

ABODI, a luxury brand from Transylvania, draws inspiration from the dark Hungarian history, like vampire legends and the chilling tales of Elisabeth Báthory. This gives their pieces a unique touch with a dark, dramatic vibe.

Now, ABODI has teamed up with another Central European brand, the Czech Vuch, to launch a collection of eight handbags. How did this collaboration turn out?

The extravagant style of ABODI got a light Czech twist this time—thanks to the minimalist and practical approach of VuchLab. Under Antonín Šimon's creative direction, they crafted a series of wearable handbags priced between 2000 and 8000. These bags come with a charm in the spirit of Labubu but with a clear nod to ABODI's dark aesthetics.

Wearable Art

The visual appeal of the entire campaign was brought to life by renowned Hungarian photographer Szilvester Mako. He recently made waves with an editorial for The Cut, capturing New York’s upcoming first lady, Rama Duwaji, draped in ABODI pieces, particularly their porcelain hands theme.

He also lent his vision to the latest collection named The Chronicles, showcased during Paris’s Haute Couture week. Each look was crafted to be a piece of wearable art.

Dora Abodi, the designer behind ABODI, hails from Transylvania and grew up in Budapest, where the brand is currently based. Her collections have hit the runways of Milan, London, and Paris fashion weeks. Artists like Willem Dafoe and Marina Abramović have donned her looks. ABODI remains more of an artistic project rather than a commercial enterprise, straddling the line between haute couture, costume, and visual art.
