A sad announcement has rocked the world of film and television.
“With heavy hearts, we announce that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon after a brave battle with ALS. He spent his last days surrounded by close friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” stated the actor's family in a statement shared by People.
“During his journey with ALS, Eric became a voice for awareness and research for the disease, dedicated to helping others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever. Eric loved his fans and greatly appreciated the outpour of love and support he received,” the family added in conclusion.
Battle with ALS
The actor revealed his ALS diagnosis last April. Given the nature of the disease and the fact that it is incurable, it was clear even then that his future wouldn’t be cheerful.
Despite this, he tried to speak about the disease openly, with calmness and determination, without any hint of resignation. He even acted in the series Brilliant Minds, portraying a character with this very illness.
