Transformer Star Arrested: Shia LaBeouf Accused of Assault

CELEBRITY

Actor Shia LaBeouf, known for his roles in Transformers and Indiana Jones, allegedly got involved in a scuffle during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

LaBeouf was arrested early Tuesday morning, February 17th, after an alleged physical altercation in a bar. A police spokesperson reported to Complex saying that LaBeouf was charged with "causing a disturbance and increasing aggression," allegedly punching an unidentified person with a clenched fist at one point.

Court documents state that the bar manager attempted to escort LaBeouf out, during which the actor allegedly tried to hit him. After being escorted out, he allegedly punched one of the guests assisting the manager and then returned to hit another man in the nose.

The actor was ultimately charged with two counts of assault after being released from a local hospital, where he was taken by police and treated for unspecified injuries. According to The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf was released on his own recognizance the same day he was detained. After an initial hearing on Tuesday, he's scheduled to return to court next month.

LaBeouf has also decided to comment on the situation himself, albeit very briefly. "Free me," he simply posted on the platform X. Last year, the actor revealed he has been struggling with alcohol addiction for a long time. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he also mentioned being helped by his colleagues Sean Penn and Mel Gibson.
