Actor Johnny Depp was recently spotted on a movie set in London, where he shot a few scenes for an upcoming adaptation of Charles Dickens' story titled Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. This marks his return to big Hollywood productions after a few years spent focusing on smaller films and directing.
Depp plays the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, a grumpy and stingy old man who transforms into a kinder soul. The work is one of the most famous in world literature.
In the first photos from filming, Depp looks almost unrecognizable. He’s in period costume with striking makeup, gray mustache, and the wrinkled look of an elder. He’s wearing a blue-black coat and a nightcap, which alongside the makeup completes the character's identity.
The film is directed by Ti West, known for horror films like X and Pearl, hinting that the new adaptation might have a darker visual vibe. Alongside Depp, the movie stars Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, and Sam Claflin. The film is set to premiere on November 13, 2026.
