Data from the Flighty app reveals which airlines travelers most frequently experience delays with and what this means for their rights.
The Flighty app released a rundown of delayed flights for 2025. Based on user data, travelers most often had punctuality issues with Ryanair flights. Nearly a third of its flights took off later than planned, reports Azet.
The review included more than 22 million flights worldwide. High delay rates were also recorded by Air France and easyJet, ranking just behind Ryanair. U.S.-based Frontier Airlines also frequently kept passengers waiting.
Airlines Must Take Care of Passengers
Not every delay automatically means travelers get their money back. European regulations allow you to claim compensation only if the delay exceeds three hours and the airline is responsible. If the delay is due to storms or strikes, you’re out of luck. Compensation can reach several thousand crowns, depending on the route length.
Even without financial compensation, airlines have to take care of passengers. They must provide basic refreshments, give the option to contact family, and arrange accommodation if the flight is significantly delayed. Experts suggest keeping documents and recording the delay process, which can help with later claims.
