In Croatia, the summer holiday season has already begun, slowly returning to its old ways after two years of pandemics. From May 1, all tourists travel to Croatia are in the pre-pandemic regime, meaning, travel to Croatia is without significant restrictions.
However, the latest reports from the Croatian authorities point out that the coronavirus has not disappeared, and what's more, Croatia is now at the turn of June and July, starting to experience an increase, informs the Croatian news server Dnevnik.hr.
There are currently 4,647 active cases of coronavirus in the country, for which omicron subvariants are primarily responsible. There are currently 243 patients with Covid-19 in Croatian hospitals.
The rapid increase in the number of infected people is evidenced by statistics, according to which there were 1,197 new cases in Croatia on Wednesday, June 29. In the same period last year, when the holiday season was just beginning, Croats registered 68 cases.
The regions which the authorities report as the most infected are not too optimistic. Currently, the most infected is the area of the capital Zagreb with 1,273 infected, but right behind is the probably most popular holiday destination, the Split-Dalmatia County, with 1,105 infected.
