The world of pop icon Rosalía is known for blending tradition with ultra-modern sounds. So, when the Spanish star kicked off her new Lux tour, fans weren't surprised she chose someone ambitious.
This time, she was joined on stage by Cuban conductor, composer, and organist Yudania Gomez Heredia, whose journey to this collaboration began with just one video.
From Cuba to Germany to Big Orchestras
Heredia grew up in Villa Clara, Cuba, where she pursued choral conducting and composition from an early age. However, her ambitions led her to Germany in 2015. There, she decided to deepen her studies and focus on the challenging field of orchestral conducting.
Before connecting with the pop world, Yudania built a strong reputation in classical music, conducting various orchestras across Europe. Her approach to music, however, is anything but uptight.
The Analysis That Changed Everything
The turning point in her career came in November last year. Yudania shared a video on Instagram where she broke down Rosalía's song Berghain. With surgical precision and passion, she showed listeners* how echoes of classic masters like Vivaldi, Fauré, and Mozart are hidden in the modern track.
The video quickly went viral. It wasn't long before even Rosalía noticed it. She was so impressed by the analysis that her team reached out to Heredia with an offer she couldn't refuse.
Every Night on the Lux Tour
Today, Heredia is no longer just an online observer. She has become an integral part of the show, conducting the prestigious The Heritage Orchestra every night. Together with Rosalía, they're breaking down barriers between classical music and modern pop avant-garde.
