The Formula 1 calendar has unexpectedly changed.
The Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix won't happen in April. Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, the races, along with F2, F3, and F1 Academy events, are off the original schedule. Formula 1 announced this on Instagram.
Organizers considered alternatives but ultimately decided not to find replacements for these events in April.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said it was a tough call. “Even though it was a hard decision, given the current situation in the Middle East, it's the right step at this time,” he said.
He also thanked the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and race organizers. “I want to take this opportunity to thank the FIA and our amazing promoters for their support and complete understanding. They were excited to welcome us with their typical energy and passion,” Domenicali added.
According to him, Formula 1 will return to these countries as soon as circumstances allow.
