Was Kurt Cobain Murdered? Independent Research Team Questions Suicide as Police Dismiss Findings

OTHER

The lead singer and guitarist of the iconic band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, died on April 5, 1994, at the age of 27 in his Seattle home. The official statement says it was a suicide, with a shotgun wound to the head. However, some are questioning this version

The British tabloid Daily Mail has come up with a new claim that it might have been a murder, suggesting that the singer became part of the 27 Club, a group of famous people who died at that age, unwillingly. The newspaper refers to a team of independent forensic scientists currently looking into the case. However, Seattle police refuse their findings and won't be reopening the case.

Did the attackers fake a suicide?

Cobain’s body was found on the floor of the greenhouse above his garage, holding a shotgun, with a fatal dose of heroin in his system. “It seems to me like someone staged a movie and wanted you to be absolutely sure it's a suicide,” the newspaper quotes researcher Michelle Wilkins, who collaborated with the team.

The team was led by Brian Burnett, a specialist in such cases. According to Wilkins, three days after he started studying the materials from the crime scene and autopsy, he declared, “it's a murder. We have to do something about it.”

What really happened back then?

According to them, the suicide was staged. Investigators presented ten pieces of evidence that they believe indicate that one or more attackers forced the singer to overdose on heroin to incapacitate him and then shot him in the head. Even the farewell letter found at the scene is allegedly fake.

They also find it suspicious that Cobain had a receipt for a Remington model 11 caliber 20 shotgun and ammo in the front left pocket of his jeans. The ammo was lined up at his feet.

The autopsy also supposedly confirms that he didn’t die from the gunshot but due to organ damage, brain and liver necrosis, associated with a lack of oxygen after the overdose.

The case isn't reopening

Daily Mail obtained a statement from a spokesperson for the Seattle police department. They don’t plan to reopen the case. “Our detective concluded he died by suicide, and this remains the department's stance,” he explained. They are open to reviewing their conclusions if significant new evidence emerges, but they don’t consider these as such.
