VIDEO: New Story Unveiled in the Star Wars Universe - Mandalorian and Grogu Journey Across the Galaxy After the Fall of the Empire

MOVIES & SERIES

Disney and Lucasfilm have dropped the first trailer for the Mandalorian and Grogu film in grand style – right during the Super Bowl.

The trailer for the movie "The Mandalorian and Grogu" was released by the creators in a pretty unconventional way — during the Super Bowl 2026. Lucasfilm and Disney took advantage of one of the most-watched TV events of the year to give fans their first look at the continuation of the beloved Star Wars series.

The trailer features familiar characters Din Djarin, aka the Mandalorian, and his little companion Grogu, whom most people know as Baby Yoda. They're in for a new intergalactic adventure full of action in a galaxy still recovering from the fall of the Empire.

Directed by Jon Favreau, according to Variety, the film directly follows the successful Disney+ series. It follows this duo's journey across the galaxy at a time when the New Republic is trying to maintain order and remnants of the Empire are still scattered across space. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 21, 2026.

As Disney's Executive Vice President for Creative Marketing, Jackson George, said, “Grogu is more than just a character; he's a pop culture phenomenon. Together with the Mandalorian, he brings lightness, humor, and a strong emotional connection with audiences that goes beyond the story itself.”
