A woman from the town of Llanelli in the Carmarthenshire principality passed approximately 150 theoretical and practical driving tests for other people seeking to get a driving licence. 29-year old Inderjeet Kaur admitted to doing this between the years of 2018 and 2020, according to BBC. According to local police, her clients were people who had trouble with English. An anonymous tip was received as to her illegal activity.
Kaur passed the exams in the cities of Swansea, Carmarthen, Birmingham and London. The detective Steven Mahoney stated that her act was motivated by greed. "Similar frauds pose a significant threat to the general public," he said. According to The Sun, she could have made around 120 thousand pounds with similar practices.
Caroline Hicks from the Driver And Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) who organizes all regarding Driving Permits in the UK stated that permits received in a similar manner may be revoked. "Driving and theoretical tests exist in order to help ensure that people have adequate knowledge and stance towards driving on our roads. Going around tests puts lives in danger," she added.
According to DVSA, one of the indicators of this kind of fraud is when the candidate requests to take their test hundreds of kilometres from home. The examiners were also suspicious because Kaur's appearance often did not resemble the photos on the identification card. On another occasion, the commissioner was suspicious when Kaur got to the a 9:19 examination at 9:15 without being stresse and passed it again with comfort.
