Kanye West has a problem on his hands. A private collector of archival clothing models, David Casavant, has accused the performer of failing to return borrowed garments and is demanding $400-thousand dollars, Billboard reports. Casavant is demanding $221,810 for unpaid fees and $195,100 to replace individual items if West lost or destroyed them.
Casavant claims Ye failed to return thirteen garments he rented in February in 2020, and stopped paying fees as of October of that year.
Casavant's lawyers wrote: "All of the items are rare and valued for their importance in the history of fashion. They are not fungible commodities. The replacement fees reflect the loss of future rentals, publicity, and the lost value of the archive as a whole, as each lost object is part of a larger collection that derives its value from its completeness."
We interviewed David Casavant in 2015, and at the time he described West as a wonderful person who is a joy to work with because of his knowledge of fashion. Today, he probably has a different opinion of the rapper.
