The 24-year-old actress Sydney Sweeney, best known for Euphoria and The White Lotus, gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter. In it, she revealed, among other things, that she does not have enough money saved at the moment to take a break from acting for even half a year. The actress has been wanting to build up a financial reserve for a long time now, because she has longed to be a young mother all her life.
"Out of every paycheck, I have to give five percent to my lawyer, ten percent to my agents, three percent to my manager, and I pay my publicist every month, which is more expensive than my mortgage."
Sweeney argues that HBO hasn't been paying actors the way it used to for a long time. It's a trend we've seen from statements made by several people in Hollywood in recent years.
Moreover, as the actress herself claims, actors no longer receive bonuses for re-airing series due to the existence of streaming services that have replaced traditional "cable TV stations". Currently, for example, the series Euphoria airs exclusively on the streaming service HBO Max. However, prior to streaming services, multiple TV stations could pay for the license to broadcast an HBO-produced series, from which the actors and creators would then receive a bounty.
Sydney Sweeney also commented on how she perceives that she is often referred to by fans as a Hollywood sex symbol. She herself wishes that sex and nude scenes on television and in film could be discussed more openly and without viewers labelling actors. She reportedly has no problem with nude scenes and has no plans to stop doing them.
In addition, the actress also spoke to Variety magazine about how they shoot sex scenes in the Euphoria series. She really enjoys filming and says that she feels very safe. There is a sex scene coordinator on set at all times and unless they want to, the actors don't have to get naked. They can even refuse to do it after they have consented to it. If they don't feel comfortable, they don't have to discuss it at all and someone else will take it up with the director.
The sex scenes themselves, for example, are filmed using various artificial blocks and bodies that the actors put between them so they don't feel their genitals.
