The streaming platform Netflix has made the last three parts of the controversial documentary Harry and Meghan available. The couple explains the reasons for their decision  to give up the duties of the royal family and speak out publicly. In the fourth part, they describe that the situation began to escalate, especially shortly after the wedding, when they gained more and more popularity in the world under the name "Modern Royals".

But the problem was that the royal family has a fixed hierarchy, so the greatest amount of attention should be focused on the queen of the day and then on the successors to the throne. Harry explains that it was also considered undesirable, for example, when several members of the royal family together with the queen participated in a certain benefit event, and the next morning Meghan grabbed the headlines again.

At that time, the tabloids' frequent attacks on Meghan began to multiply. According to the couple, the royal family had previously turned a blind eye, and although they had begged for help several times, it never happened. Meghan and Harry were expecting their first child at the time and her mental health was deteriorating day by day. "I didn't know how to save her. Harry didn't know how to save her," Meghan's mother Doria Ragland explains in the documentary.

Meghan wanted to commit suicide

In the new episodes, Prince Harry himself also admitted that he paid more attention to compliance with official duties than his wife's mental health, and added that he still blames himself for it.

"I reacted as Prince Harry and not as husband Harry," she says in the documentary. Meghan Markle already said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that she thought about suicide during her pregnancy because she saw it as the only way to escape. "I couldn't seek help because it would cast a bad light on the palace," adds Meghan.

She goes on to describe that during that period she and Harry lived in Nottingham Cottage, a small house in the grounds of the royal palace. She called their life a controlled bubble from which she could not even send photos to her friends. When their son Archie was born, the media pressure increased again. "They acted like it was a royal institution's child, not theirs," Doria added. One of the headlines at the time even said: We pay for you, so show us the baby.

She wrote a letter to her father, The Mail got it

Meghan Markle's father had already made a very good side income from giving interviews to tabloids before his daughter's wedding. However, he later began attacking the royal family directly, publicly comparing them to the Scientology sect.

According to Meghan, the Queen herself then advised her to write a letter to her father asking him to stop. However, the letter did not reach him, but the tabloid The Mail, which published it, saying that it censored the parts where Meghan writes about how the tabloid is hurting her.

I was given a choice of five options. The first was that everything would remain as it is, and the last was that I would leave completely. I chose the third, half and half. I will find my own job, but I will support the Queen. But I quickly realized that this possibility was not up for discussion, says Harry.

As always, even in this situation, the royal family did not respond, so Meghan and Harry decided to find their own lawyers, sued the tabloid and began to think about how they will continue to function within the monarchy.

The original plan was for the couple to stay in Canada, they wanted to continue supporting the Commonwealth and be financially independent, as until then Harry's father, the current King Charles III, managed the finances. They also made no secret of the fact that they are willing to give up their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

My brother screamed at me, the queen sat quietly

In Sandringham, Prince Harry later met with the Queen, his brother Prince William and Charles. "I was given a choice of five options. The first was that everything would remain as it is, and the last was that I would leave completely. I chose the third, half and half. I will find my own job, but I will support the Queen. But I quickly realized that this possibility was not up for discussion," says Harry.

He then describes how his brother yelled at him and King Charles allegedly accused him of things that weren't true. Queen Elizabeth II. she sat quietly in her chair and the meeting ended without a concrete plan.

The prince goes on to say that his family saw the whole situation as just Meghan and Harry's problem, and did not see it in a broader context. Shortly after the aforementioned meeting, an article was published in which it was written that William had kicked Harry out of the family, and shortly after that, the palace issued a statement, signed by both brothers, where they spoke out against him.

But the problem was that Harry had never signed anything like that. "I saw at that moment that if it was about defending my brother, they wouldn't hesitate to lie and have done nothing to defend the two of us for three whole years," Harry recalled of his debate with Meghan shortly after the event. "I understood that it would never stop," added Meghan. Shortly after, the couple announced that they were stepping down from royal duties.

On the first day the couple moved into their new home in Santa Barbara, Meghan miscarried. Harry blames the Mail tabloid, because of which Meghan did not sleep and was constantly under stress.

However, the attacks of the boulevard and the pressure on the couple did not end even after their departure. Articles started pouring out about how Meghan forced Harry to leave the family, and newspapers published unflattering cartoons. After all, a woman had to be behind everything bad. Specifically, Meghan, who received death threats online practically daily. In addition, the royal family removed the couple's security, although they were regularly chased by paparazzi and tried to get onto their property.

I miscarried on the first day in my new home

Just after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Meghan and Harry moved to Los Angeles, where their friend Tyler Perry offered them his house with the provision of protection. Harry's family still thought they were in Canada. After six weeks, the paparazzi found them there too. "No celebrity has experienced attacks like them. They had helicopters and drones circling over their house 24/7,” says Tyler. At that time, moreover, the dispute with Mail was at its height.
